Using PLAB (Professional and Linguistic Assessments Board)

For the UK medical system’s required GMC registration, the PLAB is a requirement. With the PLAB exam, candidates can decide whether to pursue a PG in the UK. It is a certification program that assesses your suitability for registration with the General Medical Council (GMC). It doesn’t actually award a degree; it merely registers the applicant with GMC.

Without PLAB

International students are admitted to some UK universities without PLAB. The British University has developed a comprehensive clinical MD course in partnership with NHS Hospitals and the Royal College of Physicians, London. The program offers training in specializations including oncology, diabetes, cardiology, acute medicine, and others from the best institutions in the UK, along with a master’s degree that is recognized internationally.

At the beginning of their PG course, trainees receive GMC-UK registration. Through this, applicants can submit an application to complete clinical practice in addition to their academics.

Please take note that applicants who have previously taken the PLAB but were unsuccessful are not allowed to do so.

Prerequisites for a Medical PG In UK
